DC announces superhero animated series 'Justice League'

Warner Bros. Animation is all set to roll out a new animated series based on characters from DC Entertainment that will air on Cartoon Network called Justice League Action. The animated series will focus on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman as they lead other DC Comics superheroes against infamous villains through various action-packed adventures. ‘Justice League Action’ will be the first DC Comics-based franchise to launch on Cartoon Network since ‘Teen Titans Go!’ Each episode will be 11 minutes long, following a similar format to ‘Teen Titans Go,’ and will feature a rotating roster of DC Comics heroes, who will battle everything from threats in space to the bizarre forces of magic. Though no official premiere date has been announced for the series, but a press release from the partners promises the new show is ‘coming soon.’ The series will feature the return of Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman, a role he began in the critically-acclaimed ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ in the ’90s and has subsequently reprised in numerous animated shows, films and games, including ‘Batman Beyond,’ the ‘Batman: Arkham’ video game series, and Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network’s previous ‘Justice League’ and ‘Justice League Unlimited’ series, which ran from 2001-2006. Mark Hamill will also return to voice The Joker, with James Woods playing Lex Luthor, and Diedrich Bader portraying Booster Gold. WB Animation president Sam Register (“Teen Titans Go!”) will executive produce with Butch Lukic (“Justice League,” “Batman Beyond”), Alan Burnett (“Batman: The Animated Series”) and Jim Krieg (“Green Lantern: The Animated Series”) serving as producers.
