Popeye the Sailor Man and Lefties, a Spanish affordable and inclusive clothing maker, have teamed up for an apparel collection featuring the character. The exclusive collection began rolling out designs worldwide last fall including T-shirts, shorts, tops, sweatshirts, socks, pajamas, and jogger pants for men and women. Graphics utilized throughout the collection are inspired by Popeye’s qualities of strength and heroism and feature the Popeye cast of characters including the Sailor Man himself and his longtime rival, Brutus.
Popeye, the spinach-eating sailor, and clean ocean advocate is owned by King Features Syndicate, a unit of Hearst.
The Popeye x Lefties collection follows on the heels of many recent successful international fashion collaborations for the brand, including Von Dutch, Iceberg, Intimissimi Uomo, WROGN, Zara, and more. The deal was negotiated by Caravanserai, King Feature’s local agent in Spain.
“Lefties is one of the most sought-after affordable brands and we are thrilled to work together to bring this collection of stylish and inclusive designs to the global market,” said Carla Silva, VP, GM, and Global Head of Licensing King Features Syndicate.
Guillem Rey, MD, Caravanserai stated, “Caravanserai is very proud to help our beloved Popeye grow his presence in the worldwide fashion industry through strong partners like Lefties. The continuous presence of these characters in the top retailers around the world, especially during these past challenging years, prove the strength, utility, and awareness of their iconic status.”
The Popeye x Lefties Collection line is available for purchase exclusively at Lefties stores and website.
