Singer Rihanna has made waves with the launch of her fashion range in collaboration with Puma at New York Fashion Week. Dubbed as the Fenty Puma by Rihanna Collection, the range swanks apparel along with footwear and accessories for both men and women. Imbibing the persona of RiRi, the Puma by Rihanna Accessories collection also includes caps, headwear, chokers, sweatbands and bags. The range also marks the first collection by the singer since she was made creative director and global ambassador for the German sportswear company in December 2014. In words of Rihanna, brand ambassador and creative director at Puma, “This collection is not only a representation of who I am and how I dress, but also pushes the boundaries of what I wanted to create with Puma.” “I wanted to take Puma to a new place with something unpredictable and unexpected. It's Japanese street culture with a haunting twist. I played with texture and silhouettes and all of the fabrics are luxurious. I reinterpreted the traditional in my way. I'm looking forward to sharing the collection with the fashion community and fans.” The collection that is reminiscent of 1990’s Goth and Grunge style was actually inspired by current trends in Asia. “It’s Japanese street culture with a haunting twist. I played with texture and silhouettes and all of the fabrics are luxurious. I reinterpreted the traditional in my way. I’m looking forward to sharing the collection with the fashion community and fans,” said the 27 year old singer. Rihanna starts her ANTI World Tour for her eighth studio album this month with Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Big Sean. Her PUMA by RIHANNA collection, under her FENTY label, will be available for retail September 2016.
